Potential False Activity Analysis Power BI Template Setup Guide

Unlock the power of ActivConnect and access your ActivTrak data without advanced SQL or BI knowledge. ActivConnect (Powered by BigQuery) leverages the native integration between Google BigQuery and Microsoft Power BI to simplify access to your data. You'll be able to access, analyze and visualize millions of rows of data in a simple way using familiar tools and techniques such as formulas, charts and pivot tables while maintaining current data through scheduled refresh options.

Pre-Setup Requirements

Before you begin, ensure you have:

  • An ActivTrak paid subscription plan and the ActivTrak ActivConnect Add-on
  • Your ActivConnect username and password (format: [account_number]@activtrak.us)
  • An active Power BI license

Initial Setup steps

1. Validate ActivConnect Credentials

NOTE: This step is only required for new customers and to validate access to ActivConnect.

  1. Navigate to https://console.cloud.google.com
  2. Enter your [accountnumber]@activtrak.us email address
  3. Enter your temporary password (you may be prompted to change it)
  4. If you can successfully log in, proceed to the next steps

2. Install ActivTrak for Power BI Template

  1. Go to https://appsource.microsoft.com and search for ActivTrak
  2. Look for "ActivTrak for Potential False Activity Analysis" in the suggested apps
  3. Click "Get it now" and follow the prompts
  4. Click "Install"

  1. The app will load with sample data. Click "Connect your data" on the dropdown message to configure the app with your ActivTrak data

  1. Enter your:
    1. ActivTrak Account number
    2. Excessive Event Duration Threshold (in seconds) value
  2. Click "Next"

  1. Click "Sign in and Connect"
  2. Log in with your ActivConnect account credentials

  1. Select "Allow" when prompted



Note: Data refresh time varies depending on your data size and could take several minutes to complete.

3. Download the Power BI Desktop Copy (Optional)

To use the template in Power BI Desktop:

  1. Click the pencil icon in the top right corner of the app to access the Workspace hosting the report files

  1. Click the report file from the list (file name may vary)

  1. Open the File Menu and click "Download this file"

4. Add to MS Teams (Optional)
