This article will help walk you through adding user groups to your ActivTrak Tableau templates.
Please make sure you have Tableau Desktop 2020.2 installed or later.
1. Go to the Data Source tab in Tableau.
2. Click on the ‘Migrated Data’ table and then select ‘Remove’.
A few warning messages will show up. Just click ‘Ok’ to proceed:
3. Drag and drop the ‘logs’ table into the ActivTrak Data Source pane.
A few warning messages will show up. Just click ‘Ok’ to proceed:
4. Do the same with the ‘usergroups’ table. Drop the table to the right of the ‘logs’ table (a noodle link will show up). Once the tables are in place, wait until the ‘Edit Relationship’ window pops up:
5. In the Edit Relationship window, select User from the ‘logs’ table and User (Usergroups) from the ‘usergroups’ table.
6. Do the same with the Logondomain columns (see screenshot below). Then click on ‘Close’ located on the bottom right corner of the Edit Relationship window.
7. Click on the X mark to close the Edit Relationship window:
8. Select the type of connection that you wish ‘Live’ or ‘Extract’.
9. In the bottom right corner of Tableau, click on ‘New Worksheet’.
10. In the Data pane panel, search for the ‘Reporting Group’ dimension. Right-click on the object and then select ‘Replace References’
11. Find usergroups and click ‘Ok’. Unfortunately, this will cause the Reporting Group filter to disconnect from some of the worksheets so the filter will need to be reconnected.
12. To reconnect the filter, right-click on the Usergroup filter (name changed from Reporting Group to Usergroup) and select “Apply to worksheets” > “selected worksheets”
13. Reconnect the user group filter as follows:
Activity Analysis tab
App/Sites Usage tab
Productivity Leaderboard tab
Break Time tab
Weekly User Dashboard tab
Collaboration tab
Knowledge Management tab
Alarms Activity tab
File Transfer Risks tab
14. The charts on the Productivity Trend tab will change in color. To update the colors, click on the Productivity Legend and then select the colors that you want to represent Productive. Undefined and Unproductive.
