Microsoft ended support for Windows 7 on January 14, 2020. At ActivTrak, we continued to support our customers using Windows 7 for over two additional years via our Windows Agent release updates. However, beginning May 1, 2022, we officially ceased support for Windows 7 in order to develop new features not supported in the aging operating system. This also affects customers using Windows Server 2008.
Windows 7-based machines and Windows Server 2008-based machines should be on Agent version 8.1.20, the final Agent version that supports the Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 operating systems. Those Agents will not auto-update to newer Windows Agent releases in the 8.2 line.
Please note that our latest Windows Agent 8.2 is not compatible with Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 and attempted installs will fail.
We encourage our customers to upgrade to the latest supported OS versions to benefit from the newest features and functionality available in ActivTrak.
