Microsoft ended support for Windows 7 on January 14, 2020. At ActivTrak, we continued to support our customers using Windows 7 through our Windows Agent 8.1 release updates. With the latest ActivTrak Windows Agent 8.2, we are officially ceasing support for Windows 7 in order to develop new features not supported in the aging operating system. Please note that Windows Agent 8.2 is not compatible with Windows 7 and attempted installs will fail.
Our engineers are working on a patch to prevent Windows 7-based machines from auto-updating to the latest Windows Agent 8.2 version and displaying an error message. Agents on version 8.1.19 will automatically be updated to this patched version before their remaining Windows machines are updated to 8.2. If you have manually updated your Windows 7 machines to 8.2, please contact our Support team to help you downgrade when the patch is available.
Please Note: While Windows Agent 8.1 currently works on Windows 7, this is not a guarantee. We encourage our customers to upgrade to the latest supported OS versions to benefit from the newest features and functionality available in ActivTrak.
