How to Uninstall the ActivTrak Agent

There are two ways to uninstall the agent both of which will require access to the ActivTrak account:

1. Download and rerun the installer. 

This method will NOT affect any of the historical data in the account, so if you have not exported  and don't want to lose data, use this method to uninstall, NOT method 2 below.

Download the agent from a Home page. From the Activity Dashboard, click the down arrow on the right side of the blue Download Agent button to select a specific version. Otherwise, the blue button is contextual and clicking it will detect your operating system and download that version.


Run the installer file on the computer you wish to remove the agent from and choose "Remove". If it has an outdated version of the agent, it will first upgrade to the most recent version. Then run the installer once more in order to display the "Remove" option.

On macOS to uninstall the agent after opening the installer deselect the "Upgrade" checkbox and then select the "Uninstall" option. 

Be sure not to modify the name of the file, and remove prior versions from your downloads folder so that your computer does not add a (1) or (2) at the end of the file name. Modifying the name of the installer will prevent the agent from being properly installed (or uninstalled).


2. Uninstall remotely in the app.

This method will also delete all data associated with the computer selected, so please be sure to export any information you wish to keep first. Or, use method 1 above instead.

Navigate to Settings> Users & Groups > Computer Agents, find the row that includes the computer, click on the three dots in the right-most column of that row, and select "Uninstall Agent".
