Legacy: Do Not Track (DNT) List

New User Management - March 2026

Starting March 18, 2026, our new and improved user management is rolling out to all accounts. Account management actions—including merging Agents, setting the tracking status, and much, much more—are now managed on the new Users page. The following pages will be read-only: User Agents, User Aliases, and Do Not Track. Learn more!

Any User who logs in to a computer with the ActivTrak Agent installed will be tracked by default, which sometimes leads to higher-than-intended license usage. The Do Not Track (DNT) list is a feature that enables administrators to designate and exclude specific users from tracking. The DNT list also controls which data stays private.

Common DNT Use Cases

  • IT administrators regularly log into computers to perform troubleshooting. This activity typically doesn't need to be tracked and consume a license.
  • ActivTrak is installed at the computer level and tracks all Users by default. However, when multiple Users share a computer, it is not always desirable to track all of them.
  • A Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy allows or requires employees to use personal devices for work-related activities. In these scenarios, it's essential not to track activity from personal logins and instead focus on the work user profile.
