How it works
Generate a temporary download link that allows authorized users to install the ActivTrak Agent on their devices. Links expire after 72 hours for security, but the same link can be used by multiple users within that window.
Generate and share links
Navigate to Settings > Account Configuration > Agent and User tab > Agent Install.
Create the link
Choose either the Windows Agent or the Mac Agent link, then click the teal Create button on the right side of the page. The system takes a few seconds to generate a secure URL.
Important: Shareable links expire after 72 hours for security. If a link expires, you'll need to regenerate it and resend it to users.
Allow non-admin downloads
Toggle on "Allow non-admins to directly download the agent" at the bottom of the Agent Install panel. This lets team members without admin access to ActivTrak still download installers from the app's download button.
Share with users
Copy and send the link through email, Slack, or your preferred communication channel. Include these instructions:
- Click the link to download the installer
- Run the installer with admin privileges
- Don't rename the downloaded file
- Complete installation within 72 hours
Troubleshooting
Agent not appearing?
- Check that you didn't rename the installer file
- Verify you have admin rights on the computer
- Review the Agent Health Status dashboard for any issues
