The Activity Log is the master record of all digital activity and the time your team spends. Details of all websites accessed, apps opened, login and logout times, and time spent are logged here.
The Activity Log is a highly data-intensive report since it records all digital activity for every monitored user. As a result, it can generate a significantly large amount of data across all users on any typical workday. We recommend using this report as a reference rather than for in-depth analysis due to its large volume of data. For a more comprehensive analysis, consider using other ActivTrak reports or ActivConnect to access larger datasets. The UI and Exports functionality for this report is limited to 5000 rows to ensure faster data loading. Narrow the scope of data by selecting a shorter time period or fewer users to return results quickly.
Note: If you are using the Chrome extension, any time not spent in Chrome will be logged under the title "Not In Chrome Window".
This dashboard utilizes Live Data
This dashboard is powered by ActivTrak's Live Data, which shows real-time information as it happens with updates every 2-5 minutes. For a complete explanation of how Live Data differs from Insights, see Understanding Live Data and Insights.
This report can be accessed from the left menu under Technology & AI Usage > Activity Log.
The Activity Log is the complete record of all activities performed by your team. Every activity is recorded, including websites and applications marked as "Ignore" under Settings > Classification. As the complete record, no data can be removed. Like other reports, the Activity Log can be filtered to display specific users, groups, computers, and time periods.
- Like other reports, the Activity Log can be filtered to display specific users, groups, computers, and time periods.
- Once a date has been set, the report can be further filtered using the green circle by time of day. For example, you could set the report to show all logs from 12:00 PM onward.
- The Activity Log can also be customized to show more or less data. By clicking on Columns, you can customize which data is displayed:
- The Activity Log can also be exported, either to a CSV file saved locally on your computer or to a connected Google Drive account. You can download either the current page or all pages.
- The Activity Log can be filtered to look for specific activities. For example, if you wanted to see when your users were logging in, you would search for "Logon" in the Title field.
- If a screenshot is available for that activity, the screenshot icon will be to the left of the date and time. Clicking on this icon will take you directly to that screenshot.
Reporting in User Time Zone mode*
*User Time Zone support in Productivity by User is available in Early Access beginning March 31, 2026, to select accounts. We plan to make this available to all accounts soon.
When User Time Zone mode is enabled under Settings > Time Zone, the Activity Log displays two timestamp columns for every activity event, representing the same underlying activity rendered in different time zone contexts:
- Activity Date/Time in [Account Time Zone] — the timestamp in your account's configured time zone (for example, Central Time).
- Activity Date/Time in User Time Zone — the same event displayed in the monitored user's local time zone, with the UTC offset shown inline (for example, "01/08/26 3:04:37AM (UTC-3)").
Important: The Activity Time and Time Zone setting that controls whether the User Time Zone column appears in the Activity Log is independent of the account-level Configuration Mode setting. Accounts that have not enabled User Time Zone mode can still choose to display the User Time Zone column in the Activity Log, as they do today. This behavior applies regardless of which configuration mode is selected.
For more information on enabling User Time Zone mode, see the Time Zone Settings article.
