What is AI Insights (Add-on)?
AI Insights connects ActivTrak's workforce analytics to the AI tools your employees use every day. Instead of guessing whether AI investments are paying off, you'll see exactly how widely AI tools are adopted, how deeply they're embedded in daily workflows, and what impact they have on overall productivity and utilization.
AI Insights measures usage of any productive application or website classified under the AI Tools & Assistants category in ActivTrak — or any custom categories your account has configured to represent AI usage.
What's included
- AI Adoption dashboard: Measure how widely AI tools are used across your organization or by a team. See top AI tools by usage, AI usage trends over time, and a breakdown of users by usage frequency (Daily, Regular, Sporadic, or No Usage).
- AI Adoption Maturity: Classify users into maturity stages (Stages 0–3) based on the extent to which AI is embedded in their workflows. Understand where to invest in enablement and track progress over time.
- Impact on Productivity: Measure how AI adoption correlates with overall utilization and core activity efficiency — so you can tie AI investments to measurable workforce outcomes.
- AI Adoption Maturity Details: Drill into adoption by tool, reclaim or reallocate underused AI licenses, and view individual user-level adoption data, including stage classification, AI usage percentage, interaction frequency, and tools used.
- Category configuration: Admins and Configurators can define which categories count as "AI usage" for the account, ensuring accurate measurement across different customer tech stacks and custom taxonomies.
- Role-based access control: Grant or revoke access to AI Insights for all user roles — Admins, Configurators, Power Users, and Viewers.
- Report subscriptions: Users with access to AI Insights can create and manage email subscriptions to receive automated report deliveries.

Impact tab
The Impact dashboard classifies users into AI Adoption Maturity stages and shows the correlation between stage progression and productivity metrics, at both the organization and team levels. Key visualizations include:
- Overview: A summary panel showing Users Analyzed, % AI Users, and % AI Usage for the selected filters and date range.
- AI Adoption Maturity Impact on Productivity Metrics: A table grouping users into Stages 0–3, with corresponding % Users, % Overall Utilization, and % Core Activity Efficiency for each stage.
- AI Adoption Maturity Impact on Productivity Metrics by Team: A team-level breakdown showing each team's stage distribution (Stages 0–3), % AI Usage, % Overall Utilization, and % Core Activity Efficiency — making it easy to compare maturity and productivity across teams.
- User Distribution by AI Adoption Maturity: A stacked percentage bar chart showing how the share of users in each maturity stage has shifted over time.
- Productivity Metrics by AI Adoption Maturity: A line chart overlaying a selected productivity metric (% Overall Utilization or % Core Activity Efficiency) across all four stages to surface correlations between stage progression and performance over time.
Adoption tab
The AI Adoption dashboard gives you a high-level view of AI tool usage across your organization. Key visualizations include:
- Top AI Tools by Usage: A ranked view of AI tools by allocation percentage and number of users, displayed as an interactive bar chart.
- AI Adoption Maturity Stage counts: Four single-value tiles displaying the number of users classified in each stage — Stage 0 (No Usage), Stage 1 (Research Assistance), Stage 2 (Task Execution), and Stage 3 (Workflow Integration).
- Users by AI Adoption Maturity Stage: A user-level table showing each person's AI Adoption Maturity stage alongside % AI Usage, Avg. AI Usage (mins/day), AI Interaction Frequency (sessions/day), Usage Frequency, and number of AI Tools Used.
- AI Usage Trend: A time-series chart showing AI usage in hours and the number of active users over a selected date range.
AI Adoption Maturity
Every user is classified into a maturity stage based on three signals: usage frequency, percentage of productive time in AI tools, and average AI interaction frequency (sessions per day).

Getting started
Existing customers: Please contact a member of your Customer Success team or Sales to add the AI Insights (Add-on) to your account.
New customers: Ask your sales representative to include the AI Insights (Add-on) in your ActivTrak package.
Free trial: Existing customers on eligible plans can request a complimentary trial period to evaluate the AI Insights (Add-on) before committing to a full purchase.
Important: The AI Insights (Add-on) is currently in Early Access and is available by invitation to selected Premium and Professional customers. During Early Access, Admins and Configurators are enabled by default. Contact your Customer Success team or Sales to learn more.
