When users work across multiple devices, you can consolidate their agent instances into a single user record. This unifies reporting and reduces license usage. ActivTrak will merge all activity data into the most recently active agent. This only affects the activity data. User information, such as display name and group assignments, remains unchanged.
Note: If you need to merge multiple user records (not just Agents within a single user), see merge User Records instead. Merge User Records also includes an option to merge Agents in the same operation.

Why merge activity data?
Merging at the user level gives you several benefits:
- Unified view: See all activity for a specific user, across devices, in one place
- License savings: Multiple Agents (i.e., multiple licenses) become one license after merging
- Accurate reporting: Eliminates double-counting when users are active on multiple devices simultaneously
Warning!
Make sure the Agents are associated with the same user. Once you merge activity data, you can't reverse this action.
How to merge activity data
- Open the Agents Associated with drawer by clicking the link in the user’s Licenses column
- Select the Agents of choice using the checkboxes on the left and click Merge agents
- Check the box to confirm the warning: I understand that by merging activity data, all historical and future data generated by the user will be associated with one agent, freeing up additional license(s). This action is permanent and cannot be reversed.
- Click Merge agents
Important:
- Merging activity data will free any additional license(s). For example, if three Agents are merged, a single Agent will actively collect data for the selected user record, while the other two are freed.
- This action is permanent and can't be undone.
