What's new:
Feature description
The ActivTrak MCP is a hosted server that exposes ActivTrak workforce data as a set of callable tools that Claude can invoke directly. The server enforces ActivTrak's existing calculation logic, data definitions, and compliance guardrails, while Claude handles the conversational interface and response generation. Customers can ask freeform workforce questions, generate custom analyses, and combine ActivTrak data with data from other business systems, without modifying anything inside ActivTrak or requiring BI or developer resources to fulfill data requests.
Key capabilities
- Natural language querying of ActivTrak workforce data through Claude
- Automatic enforcement of each user's existing ActivTrak permissions and Viewable Groups at sign-in, with no permission reconfiguration required on the AI platform side
- Extended insight generation, including visuals, trend analyses, and multi-dimensional reports, as supported by Claude
- Admin-level enablement control with a connected users table showing which users have authenticated and when they last queried
Data Domains at EA Launch
- Productivity: Productive time, productive hours vs. goals, productivity trends by team or individual
- Utilization: Team utilization rates, over/under-capacity analysis, utilization trends, workload distribution
- Schedule adherence: Work schedule adherence metrics, start/end time alignment, and schedule consistency
- PTO data: Paid time off tracking, leave balances, and absence data (available if the account is leveraging the HRIS Integration)
- Technology usage: Application, website, and category usage patterns, productivity classification breakdown, and technology adoption trends by team or individual
*Attendance is still in development and will be added in a subsequent release.
How to access:
For EA features
- Request access: Contact your ActivTrak Customer Success representative to confirm eligibility. Access is enabled per account by the ActivTrak team following the customer's transition from Beta.
- Activation: Once enabled, the account administrator navigates to APIs & Integrations > MCP Access, enables MCP access for the account, and shares setup instructions with users.
For users
- Open the Claude MCP marketplace listing inside Claude.
- Sign in using existing ActivTrak credentials, including any multi-factor authentication already configured for that account.
- Upon successful authentication, the connection is established. The user can close the authentication page and return to Claude to begin querying.
Each user's session is tied to their individual ActivTrak account. All data returned reflects only what that user is permitted to see based on their role and Viewable Groups configuration. No additional access is granted through the MCP connection.
Compliance and data guardrails
- All responses are informational and advisory. The server does not produce prescriptive employment recommendations, including guidance on termination, disciplinary action, or individual performance judgments.
- Queries that attempt to access employee data outside the authenticated user's Viewable Groups are declined, with a plain-language explanation and no exposure of unauthorized data.
- All query logs are PII-free and encrypted in transit and at rest.
- The server will never return a fabricated response. If a question cannot be answered reliably, it states this clearly and suggests an alternative approach.
