ActivTrak Agent Footprint, System Compatibility and Browser Requirements

Agent Footprint

The ActivTrak Agent is a lightweight and discreet app that will have little to no effect on up-to-date devices. There is no measurable performance change for the end user.

Screenshots (only available with the Screen Details add-on) and logs that are collected by the Agent are only stored locally until the Agent can communicate back to the ActivTrak servers - keeping local storage to a bare minimum.

The actual amount of storage and bandwidth used by each Agent will depend on several factors including:

  • Number of monitors
  • Resolution
  • Number of Active Alarms
  • Computer hardware (CPU & Memory)

Example:

A test device with 4 GB of RAM and an Intel Core i7 @ 2.30GHz CPU, running the Agent for 8 hours continuously and capturing a single screenshot every 20 seconds rendered the following results:

  • Less than 85MB worth of data uploaded
  • Less than 3MB of data downloaded
  • Averaged 32 MB of memory used

In comparison, Slack, running on the same machine, averaged 91MB and Spotify averaged 102MB of memory used over the same period, respectively.
